What is behind our Jersey fabric?
Mainly made from cotton, jersey is a knitted fabric that can also be made from wool or linen yarn.
What are the different types of jersey available at Petit Bateau ?
Fine and medium-to-light jerseys are the lightweight, flowing, stretchy versions of jersey knitting. This is a knitted fabric often used for women's underwear.
Dry-fit jersey is less stretchy than the others but offers a better fit. We frequently use it for T-shirts and dresses.
100% linen jersey is the icon of fine weather. We use it in our summer collections at Petit Bateau.
Slub jersey has a textured appearance which results in a very slight relief effect and a minimal degree of transparency due to the irregularity of the yarn. At Petit Bateau, we use it for our T-shirts.
Heavy jersey has a structured look (the stitches are larger and more visible than our other jerseys), and it drapes perfectly on the body (jersey with very little elasticity and good hold). This is the fabric we use for our iconic knit: the Breton top!
Some care tips from our quality department
There is only one rule to follow if you want to avoid damaging your jersey: always wash it inside out! This stops your garment from rubbing against the drum of the washing machine and other clothes.
